Terriers Split Weekend With Rider, Harvard

The Boston University wrestling team pulled out a 19-15 win over Colonial Athletic Conference rival Rider on Friday night before bowing to Harvard, 23-13 on Saturday, as the Terriers closed out their regular season schedule with a home split on Feb. 22-23.
Freshman Rayes Gonzales (Las Vegas, NV) pinned Rider's Joe Pollard at 149 as B.U. jumped out to a 13-3 lead, before Rider made a match of it late. Junior Ed Strauss (Easton, PA) earned a decision over Vinny D-Augustino at heavyweight to seal the victory for the Terriers, who completed the CAA schedule with a 5-2 record on the year. They are 11-4 overall.
Juniors Jose Leon (Santa Ana, CA) and Mark Laramee (Rockland, MA) won both their matches this weekend at 125 and 141, respectively. Leon earned major decisions over Rider's Jerold Limongelli on Friday night and Harvard's Greg Cook on Saturday. Laramee decisioned Rider's John Robinson and the Crimson's Joseph Turilli.
B.U. will next wrestle at the CAA Championships, which take place on March 8-9 at James Madison University.
