Abri, Leon lead Terriers past Sacred Heart, 31-13

Fairfield, CT - Pins by junior Jose Leon (Santa Ana, CA) and senior Ali Abri (Ashland, VA) helped propel the Terriers to a convincing 31-13 victory over conference foe Sacred Heart in Fairfield, CT, Saturday (January 12).
Leon set the pace for the Terriers early on, pinning Phillip Kalil 1:45 into the match. Abri followed suit by winning his match at 174 by pinning Wayne Oakley 4:34 into the match.
Junior Mark Laramee (Rockland, MA) recorded an impressive 9-2 decision over Tommy Howe. Junior Jason Holder (Salem, NH) and senior Chad Grant (Edin Rapids, MI) also contributed by scoring decisions in the 157-and the 184-pound weight class, respectively. Holder defeated Robert Belville 8-5 and Grant posted a 15-3 victory over Peter Krzyzewski.
Freshman Rayes Gonzales (Las Vegas, NV) continued his successful freshman campaign, winning 5-3 over Justin Ianello at 149 pounds.
Also competing for the Terriers were freshmen Joey Rivera (Stroudsburg, PA), who was upended by Jason Cucolo 5-2, and Courtney Howard (Sitka, AK) who was defeated by Anthony Reynolds.
The Terriers improve to 2-1 in the CAA with the victory and will next travel to Springfield, MA to take on Springfield University on January 16.
