Terrier Wrestlers Down Springfield College, 28-9

Springfield, MA - The Boston University wrestling team defeated Division III Springfield College, 28-9, on Wednesday night (Jan. 17), at Blake Arena. The Terriers won seven of their 10 matches, improving their record to 2-1.
Senior Ali Abri (Ashland, VA) improved his overall record to 19-7 with a 22-2 decision over Tom Medonis in the 184-pound match. Junior Chad Grant (Edin Rapids, MI) recorded his first pin of the season with a win over Scott Fay at 197.
Junior Jose Leon (Santa Ana, CA), wrestling in the 125-pound bout, defeated Aaron Gottesman, 5-1. Senior Jason Holder (Salem, NH) was a 6-2 winner over William Ivatts at 149. Sophomore Leighton Brady defeated Tim O'Donnell, 11-5, at 157. In the 165-pound match, sophomore Benjamin Schilens (Tulsa, OK) defeated Brian Viglione, 15-0. Senior Bryon Nelson (North Kingston, RI), seeing his first action of the season, won, 5-1, at 174 over Aaron Gottesman.
Springfield came into the match ranked 17th in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III poll. The Pride fell to 5-2 with the loss.
