Wrestling Defeats Binghamton, Eastern Michigan

VESTAL, N. Y. - The Boston University wrestling team (2-0, 1-0 CAA) won a pair of matches in a tri-meet against host Binghamton University and Eastern Michigan. The Terriers defeated EMU, 21-16, and routed their CAA Conference foe Bearcats, 43-3.
Sophomore Joseph Rivera (Stroudsburg, Pa.), junior Leighton Brady (Tulsa, Okla.), as well as seniors Chad Grant (Edin Rapids, Mich.) and Edward Strauss (Easton, Pa.) were double winners for the Terriers.
Rivera, wrestling at 133, earned an 8-6 decision over Eastern Michigan's Zac Pyles. He pinned Binghamton's Mike Shannon 55 seconds into their match.
Brady, who represented the Terriers at 165, had a 7-3 decision over EMU's Tim Hoff, and defeated the Bearcats' Ryan Jantzen, 6-1.
Grant and Strauss swapped weight classes between the two matches. Against EMU, Grant shutout Jason Johnson, 7-0, at 184, and Strauss got a 7-6 decision over Travis Kraft at 197.
Grant pinned Binghamton's Derman Lewis at 197, while Strauss pinned Jeff Vitale at 184.
The Terriers return to the mat on Thursday, Dec. 12, when they host Hofstra in a CAA matchup at Case Gym. The first bout is scheduled for 7 p.m.
