Terriers Sweep Competition at Rutgers, Wagner

Juniors Chad Grant (Eaton Rapids, MI) and Ed Strauss (Easton, PA) earned decisions at 197 and Heavyweight, respectively, to propel the Terrier wrestling team to a come-from-behind, 17-15 win over Rutgers University as part of a four-match sweep by B.U. this past weekend.
The Terriers also defeated Franklin & Marshall, 44-0 on Friday at Rutgers. B.U. made it a weekend sweep with a 53-0 win over Wagner and a 39-3 decision over NYU. The latter two matches were held at Wagner on Saturday.
Grant defeated Ryan McGrath, 7-4 at 197 to close the gap to 15-14 before Strauss gave the Terriers the victory over the Scarlet Knights with a 5-2 decision over Frank Sabatino. B.U. had held an 11-0 advantage in the match before Rutgers stormed back to take a 15-11 lead.
Grant was a perfect 4-0 for the weekend, scoring a major decision 14-2 victory over Harry Marquez in the win over Wagner.
Freshman Joey Rivera (Stroudsburg, PA) was also 4-0 at 133, including a :48 second pin of NYU's Chris McNeil in the Terriers' victory over the Violets at Saturday's tri-meet.
Juniors Jose Leon (Santa Ana, CA) and Mark Laramee (Rockland, MA) were also perfect for the weekend. Laramee earned a pin over Wagner's Gene Ronkiewicz and scored a technical fall over Jeremy Feinbery of Franklin & Marshall.
With the victories, the Terriers improve to 8-3 on the season. They next return to action on Saturday, February 16 against East Stroudsburgh at Case Gym. The meet will begin at 4:30 p.m.
