Wrestling Terriers Wrap Up CAA Duals With Four Wins

FAIRFAX, Va. - The Boston University wrestling team finished day two of the Colonial Athletic Association Duals with wins over Campbell, James Madison, and host George Mason to up its record to 11-1 (7-1 CAA). The event was held at the George Mason University fieldhouse.
On Friday, during the first day of competition, the Terriers defeated Old Dominion University, 24-6. On Saturday, B. U. downed Campbell, 42-9, before besting JMU, 28-12. In the final match of the day, the Terriers beat the host Patriots, 42-9.
A number of Terrier wrestlers had a good weekend. Sophomore Rayes Gonzales (Las Vegas, Nev.), wrestling at 157, finished 4-0 with a win by fall against ODU's Dennis Whitby. Junior Leighton Brady (Tulsa, Okla.) was 3-0 at 165 with a forfeit win. Senior Ed Strauss (Easton, Pa.), at 184, and senior Chad Grant (Edin Rapids, Mich.), at 197, were also 3-0 with forfeit wins. Sophomore heavyweight Courtney Howard (Sitka, Alaska) was 3-1. His only defeat was a 2-1 tiebreaker loss to ODU's Derrell Lorthridge.
The Terriers next wrestle at Drexel on Friday, Jan. 31.
