Wrestling Competes at Nittany Lion Open

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Led by sophomore Joey Whitaker, the BU wrestling team competed amongst 500 wrestlers at the Nittany Lion Open on Sunday ar Rec Hall. Whitaker reached the seventh-place match in the 141-pound bracket and posted five wins in the tournament.
Also at 141 pounds, freshman Carlo Farrandino won his first two bouts before falling to Whitaker in the consolation bracket. Freshman Bryan Matsurra (125), senior Justin Blumenthal (157), senior Jason Bakanowski (165), redshirt freshman Chris Tripp (174) and freshman Orey Hall (285) all earned two victories in the tournament.
The Terriers will take a 24-day break from competition before returning to action after the holidays at the Wilkes Tournament on Wednesday, Dec. 28.
