January 14, 2007 | Men's Wrestling
BOSTON - The Boston University wrestling team suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday, dropping a 28-9 home decision to Bucknell at Case Gym. The Terriers were victorious in the first and last matches of the day, but the Bison took the eight matches in between to move to 8-7 on the year. BU moves to 1-1 overall with the loss.
Sophomore Mike Roberts got BU off to a great start, pinning Bucknell's Jack Conroy at the 4:50 mark of the 149-pound match. The early 6-0 lead would not last, however, as Bison reeled off four straight decisions to double up the Terriers at 12-6.
A pin by Bucknell's Eric Lopotsky at 197 gave the visitors an 18-6 lead before it was extended to 28-6 following three more wins by the Bison.
Sophomore Carlo Ferrandino helped the Terriers close out the dual on a winning note, posting a 9-5 victory at 141 against Zach Galligan.
The Terriers will return to action on Jan. 19-20 when they travel to George Mason to compete in the CAA duals.
