BOSTON - The Boston University athletic department is pleased to announce that WWZN 1510-AM 'The Zone' will serve as the new flagship home for all men's hockey and men's basketball broadcasts. All regular-season, Beanpot and postsesaon games will be heard on the 50,000-watt station, beginning with Friday night's hockey opener against Robert Morris in Alaska.
"Boston University athletics is committed to providing alumni, fans and students with a variety of avenues to follow our teams, locally, regionally and nationally," said Mike Lynch, Boston University's director of athletics. "Together with 1510 `The Zone' we are able to offer listeners a consistent home for Boston University athletics on a premier sports network."
Bernie Corbett returns for a 23rd straight season to call Terrier hockey, alongside 1988 co-captain Tom Ryan, who enters his 15th season on the broadcast.
Doug Brown is back for a third consecutive season as the play-by-play voice for BU basketball, and his 17th overall (Brown also was the voice of Terrier basketball from 1981-1995). Brown will be joined by Mike Shalin, who is in his second season calling Terrier hoops.
All broadcasts can be accessed online at goterriers.com or 1510thezone.com.
