Women's Golf Defends AE Championship Title

APALACHIN, N.Y. - The Boston University women's golf team defended its America East title over the weekend at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y., claiming its second conference championship in as many years. The Terriers finished with a 676 team score, seven strokes ahead of second-place Hartford, and sophomore Lauren Stong claimed the individual title with a 163 - the best individual two-day total in the history of the championship.
Head coach Cammy Landry repeated as the AE Women's Golf Coach of the Year.
All five Terriers finished in the top 10 with Stong at the top of the leaderboard. Stong was second heading into the final day of competition and lowered her score by five strokes to leap into first place. Allison Hamilton finished third overall (80-87--167), followed by Dierdre Hatfield (85-85--170, 5th), Hannah Barry (89-88--177, 9th) and Kaitlyn Mardeusz (91-87--178, 10th).
This is the second time in as many years the Terriers have claimed the AE Championship. Prior to 2006, the best team finish was second place in 2003 and 2004.
