The Boston University wrestling team will compete at home for the first time in the new year when it faces Harvard on Saturday (Jan. 31) at Case Gym. The dual is set to begin at 7 p.m. The Terriers (3-4-1) and Crimson (1-7) battled to a 21-21 draw in last year's meeting in Cambridge.
The Terriers are coming off a 22-11 loss to Drexel last Saturday, while the Crimson fell at Army, 33-11, on Sunday. Harvard leads the all-time series, 21-17-3.
The Crimson boasts three wrestlers in the national rankings in Corey Jantzen (4th, 141), J.P. O'Connor (4th, 157) and Louis Caputo (10th, 184).
In four of the Terriers' last five competitions, a BU wrestler has posted an upset against a ranked opponent, and on three of the occasions, it was an underclassman pulling off the feat.
Most recently, sophomore John Hall (197) posted a 6-5 victory over No. 12 Jon Oplinger of Drexel. Hall also recorded a 2-1 upset against then-No. 13 Richard Starks of Army in a dual on Jan. 11.
At the Nittany Lion Open, freshman Hunter Meys posted a 4-1 victory over Navy freshman Luke Rebertus, who was ranked as high as 15th at the time.
Senior Mike Roberts twice defeated Pete Yates of Virginia Tech at the Southern Scuffle. Yates was ranked 19th when they met.
Roberts has a team-high 21 wins this season, while Meys and Hall have 18 and 17, respectively.
