Kempf, Knorr, Matyas Take Weekly AE Awards

BOSTON - Sophomore Daniel Kempf has earned America East Swimmer of the Week accolades, while freshman Melinda Matyas and junior Tanner Knorr continue their stronghold on the Female and Male Diver of the Week honors, respectively.
Claiming five titles over the weekend, Kempf led the men to a first-place finish at the Terrier Invitational. Kempf posted two individual wins, touching first in the 50 free in 20.60 and the 100 free in 45.38. His time in the 50 free ranks him at 48th in the nation while his time in the 100 free puts him atop the conference standings. Kempf's three relay wins came in the 200 free, 400 free and 800 free. Kempf's 200 free relay squad posted a time of 1:22:39 and is ranked 18th in the country while the 400 free relay squad and the 800 relay team are ranked 24th nationally after posting times of 3:02.95 and 6:48.83, respectively.
Competing at the Harvard Invitational over the weekend, Knorr turned in two of his top scores of the season. Knorr placed second in the one-meter with a score of 562.75. Then on Sunday, he placed fourth in the three-meter with a final score of 595.85. This is Knorr's fourth weekly award of the 2009 season.
Dominant on the boards in her first year as a Terrier, Matyas garners her sixth-straight weekly honor. Matyas claimed the one-meter title at the Harvard Invitational, posting a score of 538.95. She then posted a third-place finish on the three-meter with a score of 580.90, which set a new conference open record.
