
Kallert, Schmitz, Matyas Win Weekly AE Swimming and Diving Awards

Cambridge, Mass. - Junior Bryon Kallert and sophomore Amanda Schmitz have earned the America East male and female Swimmers of the Week accolades, respectively, while freshman Melinda Matyas continued her reign over the female Diver of the Week honor after helping the Terriers to a pair of wins over the weekend.
Kallert earns his second 2009 Swimmer of the Week honor after leading the Terriers to a win over Binghamton on Saturday. Swimming the first leg of the 400 medley relay, Kallert claimed his first win of the day. He then touched first in the 200 free in 1:43.93 and captured his third win in the 200 back with a time of 1:54.56.
Schmitz led BU to two wins over Vermont and Binghamton on October 31. Swimming the last leg of the 400 medley relay, Schmitz touched in time for the team to capture second place and she then posted wins in the 200 IM and the 500 free with times of 2:09.98 and 5:05.17, respectively.
Matyas captures her third Diver of the Week accolade after again winning both diving events. Leading the Terriers to a sweep of both boards, Matyas claimed the one-meter with a score of 264.55 and topped the conference competition on the three-meter with a score of 276.15.
BU will now turn its focus to Colgate on Nov. 8 at Competition Pool.
