2009-10 Preseason Prospectus | 2009-10 Schedule
The 2009-10 Boston University men's basketball prospectus is now online for fans. The Terriers will enter Patrick Chambers' first season as head coach with 16 players, including nine seniors. The top six scorers from last year's 17-13 squad return, led by All-America East First Team members John Holland (18.1 ppg) and Corey Lowe (17.2 ppg).
Chambers accepted Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics Mike Lynch's offer to become BU's 24th head coach in program history back in April after helping guide the 2008-09 Villanova Wildcats to the Final Four as associate head coach. He had spent the previous three years with the team as an assistant coach after spending his first year there as director of basketball operations. The BU job will be his first head coach position.
Four newcomers joined the team this past offseason, but only freshman B.J. Bailey, an Atlantic City Press Player of the Year and McDonald's All-America nominee from Holy Spirit High School in N.J., is eligible to play this season, as the other three are transfers from other universities.
Former Rider guard Matt Griffin, Marquette forward Patrick Hazel and La Salle guard Darryl Partin will sit out this year due to NCAA transfer rules.
The 2009-10 Terriers squad features the last three America East Rookie of the Year honorees (Jake O'Brien, Holland and Tyler Morris) and will begin the season at Iona on Friday, Nov. 13.
