
Wrestling to Welcome Six-Member Class of 2015

BOSTON - The Boston University wrestling program and head coach Carl Adams will welcome six newcomers to the team's roster for the 2011-12 season. The Terriers add the six freshmen to a team that returns nine starters, including three NCAA qualifiers.
"This recruiting class is exactly what we needed to help our program take another step forward," said Adams, who is entering his 31st season at the helm of the program. "This group is a little smaller than most of the ones we've assembled in recent years, but we feel that we have students in this class that will have an immediate impact on the program."
Peter Ishiguro - Lake Forest, Calif./Trabuco Hills - 133/141
Two-time California state qualifier ... 2011 league champion ... Southern Section Masters qualifier ... Scholar-Athlete recognition ... Graduated from Trabuco Hill High School with a 4.4 GPA.
"Peter comes from a great wrestling state and we expect him to make great jumps in the room with a strong group of workout partners. We expect him to compete for a starting role down the road."
Andrew Maksimovic - Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North - 149/157
Two-time conference champion at Glenbrook North High School ... 2011 Illinois state qualifier and regional champion ... Won 2011 Illinois Greco Roman state championship ... Third-place finisher in freestyle ... 3.3 overall GPA.
"Andrew has shown extraordinary improvement over the last couple of years. We feel he's one of those guys who's flown under the radar and has the ability to make jumps and compete at a high level in the near future."
Matt Rubin - Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy - 157/165
Three-time national prep qualifier ... Co-captain and team MVP as a senior at Chestnut Hill Academy after recording 31 wins, including 17 pins ... 89 career wins with 47 pins.
"Matt comes from a great wrestling area and had a solid prep career. He will add much needed depth to our middleweights."
Tyler Scotton - Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro - 141
Ranked 11th in the country by InterMat at 135 ... All-time wins leader at Willingboro High School with a 152-10 career record ... Also county record-holder for wins ... Two-time New Jersey state runner-up ... Fourth-place finisher as a sophomore ... Two-time regional champion and three-time district champion ... Posted a 34-2 record as a senior ... Graduated sixth in his class.
"Tyler is one of the most highly touted recruits in the country. He comes from a big wrestling family and will make an immediate impact for us at 141."
Gabe Turetsky - Newton, Mass./Newton South - 141/149
2011 New England champion at 152 ... Placed second at Massachusetts state tournament ... All-time wins leader at Newton South High School with record of 141-32 ... Captain and three-time team MVP ... Finished in top 12 at Fargo Freestyle Nationals ... Trained with some of world's best wrestlers in Ukraine prior to junior nationals.
"Gabe is a highly talented local product who absolutely loves the sport and has shown considerable improvement, especially in his senior year. He could push for time at 149 in the near future."
Mitchell Wightman - Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley - 157/165
First New York state champion in Warwick Valley High School history as a senior ... Two-year team captain ... Three-time sectional champion ... Placed fifth at states as a junior ... Career record of 174-23, including 34-1 mark as a senior (lone loss was injury default) ... Graduated Cum Laude and was a scholar-athlete all four years.
"Mitchell is a hard-nosed competitor and an impressive athlete. He has the ability to excel quickly at the Division I level and we expect him to compete for a starting role right out of the gate."
