The Boston University golf team turned in a historic fall season in 2012, as the Terriers established a winning tradition and set many new records along the way.

It was a dream start to the season, as BU bested 15 other teams to win the Bucknell Invitational on Sept. 8-9. Sophomore Kristyna Pavlickova claimed her third individual title as well, as she tied for the lowest 18-hole score during the final two rounds. The Terriers shot a school-record low of 304 as a team in the second round to help claim their first team victory since 2008.

After a second-place finish at the Dartmouth Invitational the following weekend, the Terriers took a week off before competing at the ECAC Championship. The rest and the extra practice paid dividends, as BU claimed its second team title of the season in dramatic fashion. After finishing the first round in fifth place, the Terriers erased a 10-shot deficit in the final round to edge Hartford by two strokes.

Despite an eighth-place finish at the Rutgers Invitational on Oct. 5-6, the Terriers closed the fall season on a high note, finishing third at the Sacred Heart Invitational. Pavlickova picked up her second victory of the season thanks to a final-round 72.

While Pavlickova garnered much of the attention, including MAAC Golfer of the Month honors for September, the Terriers' success was due to strong play from each member of the team. Freshmen Maddy Silverman and Emily Tillo each made an immediate impact, with Tillo earning two top-10 finishes, including ninth at the ECAC Championship. Silverman had a 10th-place performance in her collegiate debut at Bucknell.

Sophomore Flor Canedo, who served as a co-captain with Pavlickova, had a great season as well, as she had two top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place performance at the ECAC Championship to lead the team. Junior Christine Silen, the lone upperclassmen on the squad, was fantastic in her role as a team leader. BU also got contributions from freshmen Sarah Easton and Kaelyn Hilliard, as well as sophomore Christina Patracuolla.

A number of records were set this season, including the team averaging a program-low 315 over 11 rounds this semester, which is 24 shots better than last spring's mark. At the Dartmouth Invitational, BU had four players break 80 in a single round for the first time, while three Terriers placed in the top 10 individually, another first for the program.

The Terriers also finished the semester with a total of 92 birdies. Alumni, family and friends are still invited to pledge a gift for every birdie the Terriers sink this season as part of the "Terrier Birdies Challenge" this fall.

BU will resume play in the spring of 2013 when the Terriers compete in the Pinehurst Challenge at the College of Charleston in Pinehurst, S.C., on April 1-2.
