Taffur, Wightman Pace Terriers at Season-Opening Binghamton Open

VESTAL, N.Y. - Redshirt junior Nestor Taffur placed second at 157 and sophomore Mitchell Wightman took third at 165 to pace the Boston University wrestling team on Sunday, as it opened its 2012-13 season at the Binghamton Open.
Taffur, who won his first four matches, was the highest collegiate finisher in his bracket, as he dropped a 7-4 decision in the championship match to Brian Realbuto of the Finger Lakes Wrestling Club.
Wightman rebounded from a second-round loss to win three straight matches in the wrestlebacks and earn a spot in the third-place match, where he won by medical forfeit.
In all, 14 Terriers wrestled in the tournament. Junior Eric Des Lauriers earned a trio of victories at 165 while senior Kyle Czarnecki (174) and junior Nick Tourville (157) each picked up two wins.
