BOSTON - Despite junior Kyle Czarnecki's upset of 10th-ranked Jim Resnick at 174, the Boston University fell to Rider, 24-9, in its final dual of the season on Sunday afternoon at Case Gym.
Senior John Hall completed a perfect 14-0 regular season with a 3-2 win at 197 and sophomore Kevin Innis closed out the match with a 12-5 victory at 285.
BU finishes the dual season with a record of 13-7 (1-5 CAA), which is the most wins since the 2003-04 campaign.
The Broncs opened the match by reeling off six straight victories, capped by a pin at 165, to take a commanding 21-0 lead.
At 133, senior Fred Santaite, who is ranked as high as 12th in the nation, suffered his first loss of the season, as Rider's Jimmy Morris pulled off an 8-3 upset. Santaite now stands at 12-1 on the year.
Czarnecki got BU on the board with his 6-2 triumph over Resnick. The junior broke a 1-1 tie in the third with a five-point move and now boasts a 19-10 overall record, including a 5-1 mark in CAA duals.
After the Broncs were victorious at 184, 13th-ranked Hall used riding time to edge Donald McNeil, 3-2, at 197.
Innis gave up an early takedown to Evan Craig, but answered with five of his own to cap the regular season with an impressive record of 18-4.
The Terriers will take two weeks off before competing in the CAA Championships on Saturday, March 3, in Vestal, N.Y.
