
Terriers Conclude Training Trip With Exhibition Against Gettysburg

BOSTON - The Boston University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams wrapped up its annual winter break training trip with an exhibition meet against Gettysburg on Thursday, Jan. 10, in Barbados.
The exhibition consisted of four relay events for the men and women’s teams including the 4x50 meter butterfly relay, 4x50 meter backstroke relay, 4x50 breaststroke relay and 4x50 freestyle relay.
On the women’s side, the quartet of Avery Visser, Celia Simpson, Katie Kenney and Tess Harpur placed first in the 4x50 butterfly with a time of 2:07.71. BU also won the 4x50 backstroke with the group of Katie Radin, Kara Zebrowski, Kendra Cheng and Mika Spencer finishing in 2:11.97.
The Terriers continued their sweep of Gettysburg with a first-place showing in the 4x50 breaststroke relay, as Elizabeth Gareau, Katie Radin, Karla Ferrara and Tess Harpur finished in 2:31.83. The BU women concluded with a win in the 4x50 freestyle with Alexsa Savage, Mika Spencer, Courtney Grace and Katie Kenney taking first in 1:56.24.
The BU men won three of the four events against Gettysburg and started off with a victory in the 4x50 butterfly with Ryan Bach, Brandon Funk, Jeff Thomas and Mun Hon Lee taking first in 1:50.14.
The team of Nik Astashinsky, Connor Stuewe, Pat O’Neal and Mun Hon Lee finished first in the 4x50 back with a time of 1:57.63. The Terriers also won the 4x50 breaststroke with Knox Anderson, Mario Caballero, Rodrigo Gonzalez and Jeff Thomas finishing in 2:16.01.
The BU women return to dual meet competition when they host New Hampshire at the Competition Pool on Monday, Jan. 21, while the men are off until the Terriers travel to the Dartmouth Invitational in Hanover, N.H., on Jan. 25-26.
