BOSTON - The Boston University wrestling team concluded its dual season with a 47-0 victory over Sacred Heart on Saturday at Case Gym.
BU (5-9, 3-8 EIWA) honored its 10-member senior class before the match. Three of those 10 seniors - Nick Tourville (149), Eric Des Lauriers (174) and Alex Najjar (197) - earned pins. Senior Nestor Taffur earned a 20-3 technical fall and classmate Kevin Innis posted an 8-2 decision.
Tourville opened the match with a pin at 4:08 against Brendan Goldup before Taffur followed with a 20-3 tech fall just 3:50 into his match with Casey Mitchell. That extended Taffur's win streak to 12 matches and capped a perfect 14-0 dual season by the 157-pounder.
Junior Mtichell Wightman defeated Johnny Vrasidas, 7-2, at 165 and Des Lauriers' pin at 4:18 of his bout versus Zachary Moran made it a 14-0 lead for BU.
At 184, freshman Aaron Conrad topped Conan Schuster, 5-1. Najjar followed that up with a pin at 4:09 of his match against Sam Morison.
Innis picked up his win at heavyweight before the Pioneers forfeited matches to seniors Bubba McGinley (125) and B.J. Suitor (133). Junior Tyler Scotton closed the match with an 11-5 triumph over Andrew Polidore at 141.
The Terriers will next take a two-week break before participating in their first EIWA Championships. The tournament will be held at Penn on March 8-9.
