OKLAHOMA CITY - The collegiate wrestling career of senior Nestor Taffur came to an end on Friday evening, as the sixth-seeded Terrier dropped a 10-2 major decision to Anthony Perrotti of Rutgers in the 157-pound NCAA wrestleback quarterfinals at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Taffur came up one win short of being the first Terrier in 17 years to earn All-America status. However, he finishes his career with 119 victories - the most in program history.

After a scoreless first period with Perrotti, who Taffur defeated in their two previous meetings this season, Taffur started the second period on top. He lost control and gave up a reversal before Perrotti added back points for a 4-0 lead.

Taffur escaped before the end of the second and added another to start the third to draw with two at 4-2.

Perrotti, however, fought off Taffur's attempts at a match-tying takedown before closing with a five-point move. Riding time created the 10-2 final.

For the season, Taffur posted a record of 37-4, earning a ranking as high as fourth in the country while capturing the EIWA championship in the process. That win total ties Earl Walker (1993-94) for the second-most in a season by a BU grappler.

The Terriers will finish in 45th place in the team standings with six points, all accumulated by Taffur.
