Swim and Dive Trio Wins PL Weekly Awards

CENTER VALLEY, Pa.—Three members of the Boston University swimming and diving team earned Patriot League weekly honors, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Julimar Avila was named PL Female Swimmer of the Week while Kyra Tatlow and David Thiede each earned Diver of the Week recognition after the Terriers swept Bryant on Saturday.
The women’s squad finished ahead of the Bulldogs by a score of 219-95, bolstered by impressive performances from both Avila and Tatlow. Avila, a freshman from Hyde Park, Mass., finished in first place in all three races she competed in, winning the 100 freestyle (51.84) and 200 butterfly (2:05.37) after helping the 200 medley relay team win the first race of the day.
Tatlow, a sophomore from Mesa, Ariz., swept the diving events, winning the 1-meter by a margin of 22.57 and the 3-meter by a margin of 24.00 points. On the men’s side, Thiede, a freshman from Troy, Mich., also dominated the diving pool, winning the 1-meter by 11.62 points and the 3-meter by 17.77 points.
BU is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 30 when the Terriers head down Commonwealth Ave. for a dual meet at Boston College, which is set to begin at 1 p.m.
