
Tillo Named PL Scholar-Athlete of the Year

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Senior Emily Tillo of the Boston University golf team was chosen as the 2016 Patriot League Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Friday.
Tillo is the first-ever three-time recipient of this award, which is voted on by the league's sports information directors. She is also on the Academic All-Patriot League Team for a third straight year, joined on the squad by junior Adela Cejnarova.
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Tillo holds a 3.95 cumulative grade-point average and will graduate with a degree in business administration & management from the Questrom School of Business. TIllo also minored in journalism at the College of Communication. She serves as the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and was the 2016 Woman of the Year. Tillo has represented her team for three years in the BU Athletics Leadership Academy and initiated the "It's on Us" campaign to end sexual assault at BU.
On the course, Tillo averaged a 78.0 and carded a program-low 68 at the Battle at Boulder Creek. That four-under round helped her finish fourth at the event. She also tied for 16th at the Patriot League Championship to help the Terriers secure second. Tillo averaged a 78.14 in 95 collegiate rounds during an excellent career at BU.
Cejnarova is an Academic All-Patriot League selection for the second straight year. The 2016 Patriot League individual champion has a 3.70 grade-point average as an international relations major. A four-time Dean's List honoree, Cejnarova carded a score of 80 or lower in each of her last 10 rounds, with nine of those scores in the 70s. She fired a record score of 219 (72-75-72) to claim her second straight individual title at the Patriot League Championship.
