October 5, 2018 | Women's Golf
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Boston University golf team is tied for the lead after the first round of the 54-hole Yale Intercollegiate, which took place Friday at The Course at Yale.
BU combined for a score of 303 to tie with two other teams, including Harvard. Three Terriers ended the day in the top five of the individual leaderboard, led by junior Abby Parsons. Playing as an individual, Parsons fired a one-under 70 to finish two shots off the pace in second. That matches her career-low score, which she achieved in the opening round of the William & Mary Invitational in September.
Freshman Hanako Kawasaki finished at even par thanks to a score of 71, which put her in a tie for third. That round is the best of Kawasaki's brief collegiate career. Junior Zhangcheng Guo tied for fifth with a score of 73, just two shots back of Kawasaki. Sophomore Katerina Doleckova tied for 21st with a score of 77, followed by junior Annie Sritragul and senior Megan Carter, who carded scores of 82 and 83, respectively. Junior Saeros Oskarsdottir also played as an individual and recorded an 81.
The Terriers combined to record 15 birdies on Friday, with Kawasaki sinking six.
BU will tee off in round two tomorrow before Sunday's final round.
