BU Today: Annual Rhettys Recognize Outstanding Student-Athletes
BOSTON - The Boston University Department of Athletics recognized its very best on Monday evening at The Rhettys, the annual student-athlete awards ceremony, which was held at the George Sherman Union Ballroom.
In addition to the perpetual major awards, the Athlete Choice Awards, which debuted last year, were also handed out. A new award was introduced, as the Bruce Lehane Coaching Award will be given annually to a BU head or assistant coach who has embodied the holistic, values-based, caring approach that Bruce demonstrated during his 35-year coaching career at BU.
Senior vice president Todd Klipp, who announced his retirement this week, was the recipient of the Campus Community Recognition Award for his countless contributions to and support of BU Athletics. Klipp oversaw the Department of Athletics for the past seven years.
