Whatmore, Vickery Record Victories; BU Finishes Fourth at Terrier Invitational

BOSTON - Welcoming a trio of schools to Competition Pool for three days, the Boston University men's swimming & diving team finished fourth overall at the 15th annual Terrier Invitational.
Boston College (1192) narrowed Georgetown (976.5) for the team victory, while UMass (723.5) and BU (709) challenged the field all weekend.
Sarsen Whatmore took fourth in the 500 free (4:31.67), notching the top individual finish for the Terriers on the opening day. Fellow freshman Zi Win Lim clocked in a sixth-place finish in the 50 free (21.13), while Benjamin Brewer earned a seventh-place finish in the 200 IM (1:53.65).
Brewer picked up where he left off to start the second day of competition, taking fifth in the 400 IM (4:01.77), and Stuart Vickery earned third in the 100 fly (50.00). Whatmore won the 200 free (1:40.65) and Tommy Hagerty came in shortly after to finish fifth (1:41.65). Hagerty, Andreas Mason, Ethan Thomas and Whatmore closed out the second day with a third-place showing in the 800 free relay (6:47.90).
Hagerty opened the final day of competition taking third in the 1650 free (15:49.72) and Whatmore ticked in short after (15:56.79) for fifth place. Vickery snatched another first-place finish for the Terriers in the 200 fly (1:48.52) to close out the individual races.
BU will pick up its season during the spring semester, hosting Colgate for Senior Day on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 5 p.m.
