McCoy Named Patriot League Player of the Week

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After leading the Boston University men's basketball team in scoring during a pair of wins over Army West Point and Holy Cross, junior Javante McCoy has been named the Patriot League Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
The weekly honor marks the first for McCoy in his collegiate career and third overall for the Terriers this season after senior Max Mahoney (Jan. 13) and sophomore Walter Whyte (Nov. 11) were previously honored. BU last had three individuals earn the top player weekly award in 2002-03 when Rashad Bell, Billy Collins and Matt Turner were all honored by the America East.
A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, McCoy averaged 20.5 points on 56 percent (14-for-25) shooting from the floor to help BU snap Army's six-game win streak (80-66) and claim another Turnpike Trophy point against Holy Cross (77-68). He also went a perfect 10-for-10 at the free throw line.
In West Point, he scored 20 points while adding wo rebounds and two assists. He then tallied 21 points for Turnpike Trophy MVP honors against the Crusaders to increase his career point total to 962 points, 38 shy of the 1,000-point milestone.
The Terriers will next host defending Patriot League champion Colgate Monday night at 7 p.m. on the CBS Sports Network.
