The Boston University Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has announced its 2020-21 executive board members.
Rising senior Lily Burchell of the women's tennis team will serve as SAAC president for the 2020-21 term. Burchell will serve her first term as president after serving as SAAC treasurer during her junior year.
Sydney Lee of women's swimming & diving and Maggie Lohrer of women's lacrosse will serve as co-vice presidents. Lee served as community service liaison during 2019-20 while Lohrer was SAAC's campus liaison.
SAAC added two new executive positions for the 2020-21 year. Veronica Kriss of women's track & field will serve as SAAC's Athlete Ally representative while Jaiden Ritter of women's track & field and Sophie Winbush of women's rowing will serve as students of color representatives.
"First, I would like to say thank you to the 2019-2020 BU SAAC executive board for their hard work and dedication in leading their peers," said BU senior associate director of athletics Kristie Bowers. "The 2020-2021 BU SAAC executive board takes another step forward in our goal of department-wide leadership from our student-athletes. The expansion of the board this year allows for an excellent, diverse group of student-athlete leaders across our teams, best reflecting our Terrier athletics community."
The executive board is voted on by the BU SAAC members with each team having at least two representatives in SAAC.
"We are very excited to work with the 2020-2021 SAAC executive board next year," said BU director of leadership and career development Emily Howard. "These student-athletes bring positive energy and great ideas to continue building comradery between teams, impacting the campus community, and enhancing the student-athlete experience."
