BOSTON – Seeking their second five-game win streak of the season, the Boston University men's basketball team will host Holy Cross on Monday night with the CBS Sports Network broadcast slated for 7 p.m.

The Terriers most recently claimed a 76-72 win over defending Patriot League champion Colgate at home on Friday, while the Crusaders held off Lehigh, 67-65. BU and Holy Cross are meeting for the first time since facing off six times last season in which the road team won four contests.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • Graduate student Sukhmail Mathon (15.3 ppg, 10.3 rpg) is averaging 18.3 ppg and 11.5 rpg while shooting 56.8 FG% during the four-game win streak. He just needs 104 more points to join classmate Javante McCoy (1.701) and senior Walter Whyte (1,098) in the 40-member 1,000-point club at BU.
  • McCoy leads the Terriers and ranks third in the Patriot League overall at 16.5 ppg, while senior Whyte is averaging 12.7 ppg and 6.2 rpg.
  • The Terriers are 7-3 this season in games decided by five points or less. A key reason for the success in close games is BU's 74.9 FT% performance at the charity stripe and 80.6 FT%  in the final five minutes of regulation.
  • With sophomore Caelan Jones averaging 7.3 ppg, BU's bench has produced 81 points in the last four games after totaling 75 over the previous seven contests.
  • The Terriers are also 7-3 at home this season, winning their last two games against the Raiders and Lehigh (80-74).
  • Overall, BU is averaging 69.7 ppg and 44.3 FG% while holding opponents to 65.2 ppg and 44.1 FG%.
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
  • Holy Cross is 0-11 away from home this season with five single-digit losses, including a 73-67 defeat at Central Connecticut.
  • Besides beating Lehigh, the Crusaders also own a home PL win against Lafayette, 79-74.
  • 6-foot-6 forward Gerrale Gates is averaging 15.6 ppg and 8.6 rpg but has increased those averages to 21.1 ppg and 9.7 rpg in PL play.
  • Named PL Rookie of the Week three times this season, 5-foot-11 guard Kyrell Luc is averaging 11.9 ppg and 3.5 rpg.
  • The Crusaders are averaging 65.5 ppg and 41.5 fg% while holding opponents to 71.0 ppg and 46.6 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
  • Holy Cross leads the all-time series, 57-26, that dates back to 1903.
  • Before last season's 3-3 split, BU had won eight of the previous nine meetings.
  • McCoy averaged 17.3 ppg and 54.2 FG% in the six contests, while Gates averaged 15.4 ppg and 7.0 rpg for Holy Cross.
UP NEXT
  • BU will return to the road and visit Lehigh on Saturday (Feb. 5) at 2 p.m.
  • The Terriers will be seeking their first sweep of the season after winning at home, 80-74, back on Jan. 22.
