Jenny Taft (COM'10) - Women's Lacrosse

- Helped BU win four straight America East women's lacrosse titles and make four NCAA tournament appearances while advancing to the 2008 NCAA quarterfinals
- Has been a prominent on-air personality for FOX Sports for over a decade and is currently their lead college football reporter, the host for the Westminster Kennel Dog Show, and a soccer reporter, which has placed her on the sidelines for four World Cup tournaments
- Why did you choose BU? Growing up in Minnesota, I always wanted to experience a new city, culture and environment. Boston University has such a strong Division I athletics program and communications school – exactly what I was looking for. I was so fortunate to play lacrosse while also studying at COM and focusing on broadcast journalism.
- What did you enjoy most about your BU experience? I absolutely loved attending BU surrounded by so many other universities and college students. BU was the perfect city school for me, allowing me to explore Boston even after busy days of lacrosse practice and many hours spent at COM! I am also very grateful to have met my husband, Matt Gilroy (BU hockey '09), while studying and playing sports for the Terriers.
- How did your time at BU prepare you to get to where you are today? My experience at the College of Communication could not have been better. I am so grateful for my professors (most notably Frank Shorr and Chris Daly) who helped me navigate how to best break into the industry. I was also fortunate to anchor BU TV Terrier Nation as the experience producing that show with other students provided me with very important "real life" reps before breaking into the sports TV industry.
- Why is it meaningful for you to be involved with the University, Athletics, and your team as an alumnus? I am a proud BU Terrier, always rooting for all teams but specifically the women's lacrosse and men's hockey programs. My husband Matt and I would not be where we are today without our incredible experiences at BU.
