Terrier Duo Combines for Five Medals on Day Two of FISU America Games

CALI, Columbia - Kyle Falkstrom '23 and junior Tony Ponomarev of the Boston University men's swimming & diving team combined for five medals on day two of the FISU America Games on Wednesday at the Hernando Botero O'Bryne Swimming Pool.

Falkstrom won gold in the 4x100-meter freestyle relay to kick off the day before adding a bronze in the 100-meter breaststroke. The two Terriers swam the first two legs of the bronze-winning 4x200-meter freestyle and Ponomarev picked up a bronze in the 100-meter backstroke.

In the 4x100, Falkstrom swam the second leg and helped the quartet post a time of 3:47.40 to win by nearly five seconds. 

In the individual events, Falkstrom took third in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:03.84 while Ponomorev also claimed a bronze in the 200-meter backstroke in 2:10.65.

They teamed up with two Loyola Maryland swimmers to post a third-place finish in the 4x200 at 8:03.92.

The third and final day of the FISU swimming events will take place on Thursday (Nov. 7).
