BOSTON - Highlighted by a season-high 17 3-pointers and 26 assists, the Boston University men's basketball team defeated Thomas College, 113-75, on Monday night at Case Gym.

All 11 Terriers that took the floor recorded at least two points and one rebound to help BU (5-5) post the fourth most points in program history. The Terriers recorded 100+ points for the first time since a 102-66 win over Hartford on Nov. 17, 2022 and had its highest offensive output since a 117-94 victory over Marist on Jan. 26, 1980.

Six Terriers reached double figures in scoring with sophomore Matai Baptiste, sophomore Michael McNair, graduate student Miles Brewster and senior Ben Palacios all posting a game-high 15 points with freshmen Azmar Abdullah (13 pts.) and Ben Defty (10 pts.) also hitting the mark. Baptiste led BU with nine rebounds and four steals, while junior Ben Roy dished out a career-high seven assists in his first career start.

Parker Desjardins tallied 15 points for Thomas with Luke Gabloff (14 pts.) and Jackson Ruelke (12 pts.) also scoring in double figures. After hitting 9-for-20 from behind the arc in the first half, Thomas was limited to just four treys off 13 attempts during the final 20 minutes of action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Four straight points by Baptiste erased a brief Thomas lead and put BU ahead for good, 6-5, just 2:07 into the contest.
  • BU built a 26-14 advantage with 11:59 left before back-to-back Thomas triples brought the deficit down to six.
  • The Terriers pulled away, however, leading by as many as 19 late in the first half and eventually taking a 54-41 lead into the locker room.
  • Brewster and Baptiste knocked down 3-pointers on back-to-back BU possessions to extend the lead to 60-45 early in the second half.
  • BU went on a 31-11 run to push its lead to 93-59 with 9:27 remaining, going 6-of-7 from beyond the arc during that stretch.
  • The two teams played a fairly even game from that point, with BU outscoring Thomas, 20-16, the rest of the way to create the 113-75 final.
