BOSTON – Boston University will celebrate 10 years of Giving Day next month as the 2024 edition of the 24-hour online fundraising initiative will take place on Wednesday, April 3.

All gifts to BU Athletics on Giving Day will be wide-reaching, empowering the next generation of leaders and making an impact on the day-to-day experience of current Terrier student-athletes.

On Giving Day 2023, Terrier Nation came together to contribute more than $1,000,000 for the sixth consecutive year, as alumni, parents and friends made gifts totaling $1,247,593 in support of varsity programs. The initiative helped the Department of Athletics raise a record amount through the annual fund in 2022-23.

Thousands of dollars in bonus funds are up for grabs for each varsity team again this year through the following challenges:

Giving Day 2024 - The Challenges

Athletics Young Alumni Participation Challenge (Classes 2014-23): If Athletics receives 550 donations from young alumni, all varsity programs will receive a bonus.
Additionally, if a team reaches 100% participation from their young alumni or increases the total number of young alumni gifts by 10% in comparison to Fiscal Year 2023, a bonus will be unlocked.

Team Revenue Head-to-Head Challenge: Each varsity program will be matched up against another team, with the team that raises the most in each matchup earning a bonus.

Beat Your Best:  Each team that surpasses their Giving Day total dollars raised record will receive a bonus.

Individual Varsity Team Challenges: Donor opportunities to sponsor dollar-for-dollar individual varsity team challenges beginning at $5,000+ to encourage leadership level support from alumni, parents and friends.

Ambassador Program: Sign up to be a Giving Day ambassador for your team! The ambassadors who bring in the most gifts will unlock bonus funds for the designation that matters most to them.  Click here to become an ambassador today.
