Men's Swimming & Diving Ups Win Streak to Four With Victories Over Colgate, Fairfield

BOSTON - The Boston University men's swimming & diving team upped its dual win streak to four by sweeping a double dual with Colgate and Fairfield on Saturday afternoon at FitRec Competition Pool.
The Terriers improved to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Patriot League after downing the Raiders, 217-73, and topping the Stags by a score of 169-30.
Freshman Giovanni Sullo swept the distance events, winning the 1000-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 9:34.57 before taking first in the 500 in a time of 4:40.02.
Senior Jed Tan took first in the 100-yard butterfly (50.22) and also had a runner-up finish in the 50 freestyle (21.32).
Junior Tony Ponomarev won the 100-yard backstroke in 51.48 - a season best - while senior Nathan Herman (200 breast, 2:07.73) and junior Ben Cho (50 free, 21.28) also added victories.
The Terriers swept the relays as freshman Abraham Lee, senior Andy Carlson, Tan and Cho claimed first in the 200-yard medley relay (1:31.33) before sophomore David Kohan, Lee, senior Pier Bressan and senior Keegan Duffy closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:25.16).
BU will return to action next weekend with a two-day dual against Boston College as the Terriers will host the diving portion on Friday (Jan. 17) at 5 p.m. before the Eagles host the swimming on Saturday (Jan. 18) at 11 a.m.
