
BU Athletics Breaks Department GPA Records in 2024-25

BOSTON - The Boston University Department of Athletics reached new academic highs in 2024-25 as the student-athlete body had its highest semester grade-point average with a 3.44 in Spring 2025, resulting in a record-breaking 3.43 GPA for the year.
All 24 varsity programs earned a GPA 3.0 or above for the year with women's golf leading the way at 3.71, boosted by a department-best 3.75 in the spring. Amongst men's teams, soccer was tops for the year with a 3.54 to edge out swimming & diving (3.53). Women's basketball had the largest improvement from the fall, raising its average by 0.23.
After posting a 3.43 department GPA in the fall, this marks the second straight year that BU Athletics has been over a 3.4 in both semesters of an academic year. BU student-athletes have now combined for a GPA of 3.2 or higher in 17 straight semesters.
Over 86 percent of the student-athlete body had a GPA of 3.0 or above for the spring semester. Additionally, 56 student-athletes finished with a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring.
Thirty-five members of the senior class graduated with honors, led by four with summa cum laude accolades. Erin Sullenberger had the top GPA among student-athletes in the class with a perfect 4.0.
