Terriers Sweep Double Dual Over Colgate, Fairfield

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Boston University men's swimming & diving team opened the 2026 portion of its schedule with a double-dual sweep on Saturday at Colgate, topping the Raiders and Fairfield at Lineberry Natatorium.
The Terriers posted a 193-44 victory over Colgate and topped Fairfield by a score of 169-72.
Both relays set pool records as the 400 medley relay with senior Tony Ponomarev, junior Ethan Huynh, junior Henry Dvorak and freshman Nathan Lee crushed the previous mark by over seven seconds in a time of 3:17.97.
To close the meet, BU added another pool record when the 200 free relay of freshman Jinu Hong, freshman Azariah Mamousette, Dvorak and senior Ben Cho turned in time of 1:22.20.
Sophomore Giovanni Sullo won three events while Ponomarev and Hong claimed two wins apiece. Junior Zein Mahana swept the diving events.
Sullo won both distance freestyle events (9:30.28 - 1000, 4:35.69 - 500) and turned in a winning time of 1:51.03 in the 200 butterfly. Hong won the sprints, placing first in the 50 (20.86) and 100 (45.83) freestyle races. Ponomarev claimed a victory in the 200 individual medley (1:51.42) before taking first in the 200 backstroke (1:48.37).
Mahana earned a NCAA zones cut in the 3-meter with a season-best score of 345.20 and then added a win in the 1-meter (286.65).
Lee was tops in the 200 freestyle, recording a time of 1:40.74.
BU, now 4-3 overall and 3-1 against Patriot League competition, will return to action next Saturday (Jan. 17) when it hosts MIT at 1:30 p.m.
