11th Turnpike Trophy Opens With Four-Event Weekend

BOSTON - The 11th year of the Turnpike Trophy, an athletic series between in-state Patriot League rivals Boston University and Holy Cross, will begin this weekend with four events, starting with a field hockey contest at BU on Friday, Oct. 9.
BU has won all 10 previous Turnpike Trophy competitions, retaining it every year since it began in 2015. In 2025-26, the Terriers posted a 15-4 victory over the Crusaders.Â
This year's competition starts on Friday at New Balance Field with an important Patriot League field hockey contest as the Terriers are 2-0 in league play with the Crusaders right behind at 2-1.
On Saturday, points for men's and women's swimming & diving will be on the line at BU's FitRec Competition Pool with those duals starting at 1:30 p.m. Later in the day, the women's Hockey East series between BU and Holy Cross kicks off in Worcester at 5 p.m.
All regular-season and postseason meetings in field hockey, soccer, ice hockey, basketball, swimming & diving, tennis, lacrosse and softball are part of the compeition with each worth one point (ties result in a half-point for each school).
