Terrier Twelve - #5: Student-Athletes Continue to Set GPA Records

Coming in at No. 5 in this year's Terrier Twelve is the student-athlete body's record-setting performance in the classroom.
The Terriers posted a department-best 3.49 grade-point average in Spring 2026 en route to a record 3.46 GPA for the school year; these marks topped the previous semester standard of 3.44, set in Spring 2025 and matched in Fall 2025, and the 3.43 school year record set in 2024-25.
All 24 varsity programs earned a GPA 3.0 or above for the year with women's golf leading the way at 3.81, boosted by a department-best 3.87 in the spring. Amongst men's teams, tennis was tops for the year with a 3.52 while men's rowing had the best spring with a 3.58. Men's basketball had the largest improvement from the fall of any program, raising its average by 0.33.
After posting a 3.44 department GPA in the fall, this marks the third straight year that BU Athletics has been over a 3.4 in both semesters of an academic year. BU student-athletes have now combined for a GPA of 3.2 or higher in 19 straight semesters. Over 88 percent of the student-athlete body had a GPA of 3.0 or above for the spring semester. Additionally, 55 student-athletes finished with a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring.
Twenty-five members of the senior class graduated with honors, led by three with summa cum laude accolades. Susan Shobeiri of women's soccer had the top GPA among student-athletes in the class with a perfect 4.0.
Several Terriers were recognized both nationally and within the Patriot League for their academic and athletic success. 381 of the 473 (80.5%) eligible student-athletes received Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recognition, with BU earning 37 Academic All-Patriot League accolades. In addition, men's ice hockey (22 members) and women's ice hockey (19 members) each set a program record for Hockey East All-Academic Team recognition.
Five student-athletes were named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year in their respective sport: Giulianna Gianino (women's soccer), Karsen Vesty (men's indoor track & field), Peace Omonzane (women's indoor track & field and women's outdoor track & field), Amy Han (women's golf) and Kasey Ricard (softball). Ricard also earned BU's fourth-ever Patriot League Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.
Nationally, multiple Terrier teams and athletes were honored as Scholar All-Americans (or equivalent) by their respective coaches organizations, with Owen Faulha (men's track & field), Connor Kehm (men's lacrosse), Peace Omonzane (women's track & field) and Ellie Roan earning athletic All-America accolades in addition to eaning All-Academic or Scholar All-America laurels.
