Terrier Twelve - #3: Women's Rowing Three-Peats Patriot League Title
July 30, 2026 | General, Women's Rowing
Returning for an 18th year, the Terrier Twelve recognizes the top achievements of Boston University teams and student-athletes from the previous year. Check back each Monday and Thursday this summer as we unveil this year's Terrier Twelve on GoTerriers.com.
Coming in at No. 3 in this year's Terrier Twelve is the women's rowing program, which retained its spot at the Patriot League pinnacle with its third-consecutive championship and NCAA appearance.
The Terriers swept all four races in the championship regatta, with at least six seconds comfortably deciding three of the four Grand Finals. BU's Varsity 8, coxed by Laura Leong and stroked by Marta Carfagni, captured Patriot League Boat of the Year honors for the third year in a row.
Director of Women's Rowing Malcolm Doldron, Associate Head Coach Lizzie Mitchell and Assistant Coach Ciara O'Sullivan were selected as the Patriot League Coaching Staff of the Year following the championship. The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) recognized Doldron as the Division I Region 2 Coach of the Year.
Carfagni, Leong, junior Ingrid Eshuis and sophomore Kate Barham made the All-Patriot League first team. Eshuis also represented the Terriers on the Academic All-Patriot League Team. Junior Lydia Pelton as well as sophomores Raylynn Boston and Gigi Williams were selected to the second team.
BU went on to finish 19th at the NCAA Championships, with the Varsity 4 advancing to the C Final as BU's highest placing boat.
Earlier in the year, BU reclaimed the Council Cup over local rival Northeastern for the first time in three years, winning the Varsity 8 race by over five seconds. The Terrier Second Varsity 8 defeated Columbia eight days later, earning Patriot League Boat of the Week recognition. At the 2026 Eastern Sprints, BU's Varsity 8 qualified for the Grand Final and finished ahead of No. 12 Rutgers for a fifth-place result.
