Maggie Hanzel (Questrom'25) - Women's Ice Hockey

- Assistant captain on 2025 Hockey East championship team
- Graduated from Questrom School of Business
- Three-time Hockey East All-Academic Team honoree
- Currently serves as a tax associate within the private equity fund group at RSM
- Why did you choose to attend BU? "BU quickly became my top choice throughout the recruiting process. The combination of its rich hockey tradition, outstanding academics, and location in the heart of Boston made the decision an easy one. I was drawn not only to the success of its hockey programs, but especially to the strong tradition of BU women's hockey. I knew I wanted to be part of that culture and contribute to its continued success. Beyond hockey, I wanted to attend a university where I could thrive both academically and personally. It was important to me to be in an environment I would enjoy on and off the ice, and BU checked every box."
- What did you enjoy most about your BU experience? "When I reflect on my time at BU, countless memorable experiences come to mind. Playing in the Beanpot at TD Garden, winning a Hockey East Championship, attending Red Sox games at Fenway Park, and taking advantage of everything the campus and city have to offer are just a few highlights. What stands out most, however, are the people who made those experiences so meaningful. Whether it was my teammates and coaches at the rink, fellow student-athletes across the athletics community, or classmates and professors in Questrom, the relationships I built at BU had the greatest impact on my experience and continue to be what I value most."
- How did your time at BU prepare you to get to where you are today? "My time at BU played a significant role in shaping who I am today. My love for Boston, where I now live full-time, began during my years at the university as I explored the city and all it has to offer. Those experiences helped prepare me for the fast-paced environment and demands of my career today. Just as importantly, the relationships and connections I built through BU were instrumental in helping me secure my current role and have continued to support my growth both personally and professionally."
- Why is it meaningful for you to be involved with the University, Athletics, and Terrier Hockey as an alumnus? "Staying involved with BU, Terrier Athletics, and Terrier Hockey is incredibly meaningful to me because of everything the university gave me during my time there. BU played such an important role in my development, and I feel a strong desire to give back as an alumna. Whether it's supporting the university, attending alumni events, or cheering on the women's hockey team whenever I can, staying connected allows me to maintain the relationships and traditions that meant so much to me as a student. It also serves as a reminder of the experiences, opportunities, and sense of community that made my time at BU so special."
