James Dincolo was a standout two-way lineman for the Terrier
football squad for fours years until he graduated in 1930.
Recruited out of Medford High School by coaches Reggie Brown
and Eddie Robinson, Dincolo was starting as a freshman. Teaming
with center Art Dorfman, and guard Chauncey French, the trio,
dubbed the "Three Mules", did not allow a single
touchdown as a unit in three years.
At 5-9, 220, Dincolo may seem almost slight by today's comparisons,
but for his time he was as solid as they came. He was rarely
injured during his career, and was named to the All-New England
squad.
He graduated BU with a master's in Accounting and enjoyed
a distinguished career. He became Professor Emeritus in Accounting
at Notre Dame and headed the CPA Board of Indiana.
