Possessing a level of talent that drew the attention of the U.S. National Lacrosse Team, Patricia Kilroy Donahoe was a standout member of the Sargent College teams throughout the latter half of the 1950's.
Although intercollegiate athletics did not exist for women,
Donahoe displayed her many talents in a variety of sports
and competitions on the interclass level.
However, her scenario was not akin to a big fish in a small
pond. She enjoyed a similar level of success while facing
stiffer competition when she joined the field hockey and lacrosse
club teams of the Boston Association. Her forte was the latter
sport, and, during her senior year she received an offer to
tour with the National Lacrosse Team.
Unfortunately, the invitation came at the wrong time. Donahoe had recently been accepted to Medical School at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Still, she did not make a complete departure from the world of athletics. Serving as an assistant coach at Indiana University, Donahoe worked closely with the women's field hockey, basketball, and swimming programs, while additionally teaching a number of courses.
