The "spark plug" of one of Boston University's
most successful basketball teams in its history, Jackie Leaman
co-captained the 1959 NCAA quintet that made it past Connecticut
and Navy before being eliminated in the quarterfinals against
Jerry West & Company, at West Virginia.
Following his collegiate playing career, Jack went on to
distinguish himself in the college coaching profession at
the University of Massachusetts. In 1969 he became the first
college coach to be honored by Boston University with the
Harry Cleverly Memorial Award as "Coach of the Year."
