Lou is the first member of what was described in the 1955
HUB as the "best line in the school's history" to
make it into Boston University's Hall of Fame.
A three-year standout for the Terriers as a middle guard,
Lovely "formed the backbone of one of the most fearsome
attacking units in New England football" in 1954 when
Boston University posted a 7-2 record and was just two points
away from an undefeated season.
Lou was named to the All-East team for his efforts and also
received All-America recognition. He was signed by the Philadelphia
Eagles of the NFL, however, a chronic pinched nerve in his
neck and a serious knee injury sustained in training camp
cut short his professional career.
