Although Myra Sawyer Roberts attended Boston University during
an era in which women were prohibited from participating in
intercollegiate athletics, there were no such limitations
placed on interclass competition, and Roberts excelled in
nine sports.
A naturally-talented individual, Roberts was exceptionally
fleet of foot, who was affectionately referred to as "speed"
by her classmates. Her versatility was best evidenced by the
fact that she was an exceptional swimmer, proving she could
perform equally well in individual and team sports.
However, her talents were not limited to the athletic confines
of Sargent College. A standout member of the Boston Field
Hockey Association, Roberts competed against a variety of
local club teams and groups.
She Tried out for, and was later selected to play for the
Northeast entrant which qualified for the National Field Hockey
Tournament held in Cleveland Ohio.
In recognition of her diverse and highly-developed skills,
Myra Sawyer Roberts was named the Most Athletic Female in
her graduating class, and received the Tnegras Award, the
highest honor bestowed upon a Sargent College graduating senior.
