The Terrier Legacy Circle
The Terrier Legacy Circle at Boston University, is the athletics' chapter of the University's Claflin Society which pays tribute to all alumni and friends of the University who have provided for Boston University in their estate plans or who have established life income gifts with the University. Membership in The Terrier Legacy Circle provides support for Terrier athletics typically through the creation of scholarship and endowed funds in accordance with the donor's wishes.
Benefits of membership in the Terrier Legacy Circle include invitations to:
- select athletic events on campus
- an annual luncheon on campus each spring
- BU Night at the Pops during reunion weekend
- BU Alumni Day at Tanglewood each summer
These and other events provide Terrier Legacy Circle members with opportunities to renew ties to the University, learn about recent developments on campus and associate with others who have given similar priority to Boston University athletics.
Two Ways to Join the Terrier Legacy Circle
Make a life Income Gift to Boston University Athletics.
Example: An alum in the fiftieth reunion class donates $25,000 (minimum gift is $10,000) to establish a charitable gift annuity that will provide funds for scholarship. The alum and spouse will receive a yearly income for their joint lifetimes. For this gift, membership in the Terrier Legacy Circle is offered.
Include Boston University Athletics in Your Estate Plans
Example: An alum has specified in his/her will that Boston University athletics receive a defined percentage of his/her residual estate after provisions for family are met. This sum will be used to endow a fund in athletics according to the wishes of the donor. When this information is sent to the Office of Gift and Estate Planning, an invitation to join the Terrier Legacy Circle is extended.
