The Boston University Dance Team is a group dedicated to the art of dance and the promotion of school spirit. In 2009, the team officially became a part of the Department of Athletics under the banner of the BU Spirit Squads along with the BU Cheer Team and Pep Band.
BUDT represents the University on and off campus all season long, and displays great pride in what they do. The team performs at all men's and women's basketball games, on-campus events, community service events, local dance showcases, and competitions.
BUDT competes in the Division I Dance and Hip Hop categories at the NDA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, Fl. In 2014, the team won the Division I Hip-hop National Championship. They followed up in 2016 by winning the Division I Team Performance National Championship. As a member of the Boston University Dance Team, Team members dedicate 12-18 hours per week towards practice, games, events and fundraisers.
