Two of the most successful seasons ever enjoyed by Terrier women's basketball teams were in 1987-88 and 1988-89. In the first of the two seasons, the women set a program record for wins en route to a 21-8 record, and the Seaboard Conference title. The following year, playing Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Old Dominion, and Syracuse, the team finished 14-14, but won its second straight Seaboard Tournament.

"Andrea played a crucial role in our winning those titles, " head coach Christine Basile said of Andrea Ashuck Mrusek.

"She was an extremely talented offensive player," said the coach. "She could score on an offensive rebound, in the low or high post, in the transition game, and from long range."

There is no question about her ability to score points. Through her first two years, she had scored 697 points. Co-captain her senior year, Andrea finished her career with 1348 points.

A native of Atlantic Highlands, N.J., Andrea did more than score points, though. She totaled 682 rebounds and 93 blocked shots during her BU career.

As a freshman, she led the team in blocked shots (23) and was named All-Conference. Her sophomore year, she led the way in scoring (14.2) and rebounding (6.7) and was named to the All-Conference team.

However, her best season came as a junior when she paced the team in scoring (13.3), rebounding (6.1), and blocked shots (21). She was named All-Conference for the third straight year and was an Honorable Mention All-American.

"When the game was on the line, she delivered," said Coach Basile.
