George Karalexis

Born in Greece, George Karalexis moved to the United States at age 15. It was here that he first played soccer and starred at Boston English H.S.. Prior to his scholastic graduation, he won the City of Boston Decathalon championship as both a junior and senior.

However, once he came to BU he concentrated on soccer and excelled in the sport unlike anyone who came before him.

A three-year letterman, he was both All-New England and All-America his junior and senior years, and was named the University's Outstanding Athlete in 1966.

He ended his school career with 43 goals, 15 both as a sophomore and junior and 13 as a senior.

After graduation, Karalexis turned down several offers to turn professional in hopes of making the 1968 U.S. Olympic Team. His efforts earned him the first alternate spot on the team.
