Davenport was a standout for the men’s ice hockey team from 1967 to 1970, totaling 154 career points (67g, 87a), which ranked 15th all-time in Boston University history at the time of his induction. His goal and assist totals also tied him for 18th and 20th, respectively, at the time of induction.

In 84 career games, Davenport averaged 1.83 points per game, which ranks among the all-time best at BU. Davenport also won the E. Ray Speare award in 1970, which is given annually to BU’s top male student-athlete.

After leading the freshman squad with 45 points (21g, 25a) in the 1966-67 season, Davenport broke out onto the scene as a varsity rookie in 1967-68, registering 59 points including a team-best 24 goals. He set a school record that season with a six-assist performance in a win over New Brunswick.

As a junior, Davenport once again led the Terriers in goals, finding the back of the net 23 times on the strength of three hat tricks as part of a 45-point season.

Davenport was team MVP and captain his senior year, helping the Terriers post a 20-7 record and capture the Beanpot title. He finished the year with 50 points on 20 goals and 30 assists, and was named to the ECAC All-Tournament Team.
